Last Saturday I went to a BECCA event at my local Sephora. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, every other week (or maybe it’s every week) Sephora holds events for specific brands where they showcase certain products. So far my favorites have been NARS and Ole Henriksen (my husband even did that one with me because it was skincare!)
The events are held on Saturdays from noon to 5 PM and I always call ahead and try to reserve the noon spot so I dont have to wait when I get there as they almost always run over their time slots. Someone beat me to the noon spot this time so I had to take 1:00 and didn’t get in the chair until about 1:15.
For this event they were featuring BECCA’s two new foundations. I’m a bad blogger and can’t remember the name of the first one but the second one was the Aqua Luminous and that’s what I chose because the cast member described the first one as matte and super full coverage and I dont really need that. She described the Aqua Luminous as more dewy and light.
When I heard they would be featuring foundation I was a little skeptical because I use BECCA’s older foundation…
…and I hate it. Its super thick. It’s hard to work into the face. Its cakey. It’s dry (if that’s a thing?) I just don’t like it. I’m literally only using it because it was expensive and I don’t want to waste it.
But at the same time new foundation typically means new formula so I was willing to give it a try.
The cast member shade matched me with the cool little scanner thing and, even though she got the right shade, the stuff was still awful. I looked in the mirror when she was done applying it and thought “OMG this is horrible!” and it wasn’t anything the cast member did wrong. I’ve had her before for events and she always does amazing. It was literally the foundation. I didn’t wear my glasses so my vision was extra blurry and I could still see it all caked up on my forehead. It brought out lines in my forehead I didn’t even know I had!
I let her keep going with the makeover because 1. I didn’t want to be rude and be like “this stuff sucks” and 2. I had an event to go to after my appointment and wouldn’t have time to redo my makeup beforehand.
She used a bunch of other BECCA products on me and I had no problems with any of them whatsoever. I’ll list a few that I loved below.
If you haven’t tried that highlighter in Champagne Pop you’re missing out!
At the end of all the events they give you a sample that is typically a mini version of one of the products they just used on you or at least a product from the brand they are featuring. This is the sample they were giving out this time…
What?? And it wasn’t like they had run out and just gave me something random. I had one of the earlier appointments and I saw them give this to the people before me. Very random. I’ve heard it’s like a holy grail product but I’m pretty certain that nothing is better than Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray! If I ever run out I might give it a try though. Or maybe I’ll include it in my foil packet challenge.
So anyway, I’ve come to the conclusion that BECCA has a lot of great products but their foundation is s**t. For my skin anyway.. it might very well work for someone with a different skin type. Oily maybe? I don’t know! Leave a comment down below if you’ve tried BECCA’s foundation and whatcha think! 🙂
